He was appointed Scientist E1 in the Minerals Processing Division at CSIR-National Metallurgical Laboratory, East Singhbhum, a role he fulfilled with distinction (2004–2008). During 2001–2002, he functioned as Humboldt Fellow within the Department of Economic and Environmental Geology at Freie Universitaet Berlin, Berlin. During 2000–2004, he functioned as Scientist C within the Minerals Processing Division at CSIR-National Metallurgical Laboratory, East Singhbhum. He served as Assistant Manager in the R & D Division at Tata Steel, Erstwhile Tata Iron and Steel company, East Singhbhum (1998–2000).
