Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy (born December 21, 1972), commonly known as Y.S. Jagan or simply Jagan, is an Indian businessman and politician serving as the second Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. He is the founder of YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) and son of former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy. Political Journey: * Started his political career with Indian National Congress * First elected as MP from Kadapa constituency in 2009 * After his father's death in a helicopter crash in 2009, undertook a consolation tour (Odarpu Yatra) * Founded YSRCP in 2011 after leaving Congress due to differences * Served as Leader of Opposition from 2014-2019 * Became Chief Minister in 2019 after YSRCP won 151 out of 175 assembly seats Key Initiatives as Chief Minister: # Navaratnalu (Nine Gems) - Welfare schemes including: * YSR Arogyasri (Healthcare) * Fee Reimbursement * Housing for Poor * YSR Asara & Cheyutha (Financial assistance) * Pension enhancement * Amma Vodi (Education support for mothers) * YSR Rythu Bharosa (Farmer support) * YSR Jalayagnam (Irrigation projects) * Prohibition of alcohol (phased manner) # Administrative Reforms: * Village Secretariat System * Volunteer System for doorstep delivery of services * Nadu-Nedu program for school infrastructure development Notable Achievements: * Successfully implemented village/ward secretariat system * Effective COVID-19 management through decentralized administration * Introduced volunteer system for last-mile service delivery * Launched comprehensive education reforms * Received UN recognition for sustainable development initiatives Controversies: * Faced CBI investigation for alleged disproportionate assets * Three capitals proposal instead of Amaravati as single capital * As of April 2023, reported as India's richest Chief Minister with assets worth βΉ510 crores His governance model focuses on welfare schemes, decentralized administration, and strengthening public education and healthcare systems. He was elected as the permanent president of YSRCP in July 2022.
